WINNERS OF AWARDS AT THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MG CLUB’S BOOTS AND BONNET CAR SHOW OF SEPTEMBER 13, 2015.
CLASS A – FIRST PLACE WINNER – MG Pre-War & T-Series Open Tourer (1924-1955) at the Southern California MG Club’s Boots and Bonnet Car Show of September 13, 2015. Allan Wertheim’s cream color 1951 MG TD. This MG-TD was owned and raced by J. S. Inskip, the man who was the first person to import MG’s into the United States. Inskip and his partner raced this car for the first 3 or 4 years of it’s life. Mr. Wertheim purchased the car in 1969 and has restored it over the years to the winning condition it is today. The car has been driven all over Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York and Southern California.
CLASS A – SECOND PLACE WINNER – MG Pre-War & T-Series Open Tourer (1924-1955) at the Southern California MG Club’s Boots and Bonnet Car Show of September 13, 2015. Ed Reynolds red 1953 MG TD. Mr. Reynolds received this red 1953 MG TD for the entry placed his uncle with the hope of winning the second place prize – a scholarship in the “Why I Like My Papermate Pen” contest on October 19, 1953 in Dallas, Texas. Needless to say, the essay of 25 words or less won first prize! Mr. Reynolds has driven this MG TD all over the United States.
CLASS C – FIRST PLACE WINNER – MGA (1955-1962) [Roster, Coupe] at the Southern California MG Club’s Boots and Bonnet Car Show of September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to Victor Rossi for his 1958 Green MGA.
CLASS C – SECOND PLACE WINNER – MGA (1955-1962) [Roster, Coupe] at the Southern California MG Club’s Boots and Bonnet Car Show of September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to Marc Schoeplein for his Dove Grey 1958 MGA.
CLASS C – THIRD PLACE WINNER – MGA Roadster (1955 -1962) [Roster, Coupe] at the Southern California MG Club’s Boots and Bonnet Car Show of September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to Jim Plowden for his Green 1962 MGA.
CLASS D – FIRST PLACE WINNER – MGB Roadster (1962 -1974) [Mark I, Mark II, Mark III all Chrome Bumper Cars, as well as, MGC Roadster, 1967 – 1969] at the Southern California MG Club’s Boots and Bonnet Car Show of September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to Andrew Graves for his Green 1968 MGB.
CLASS D – SECOND PLACE WINNER – MGB Roadster (1962 -1974) [Mark I, Mark II, Mark III all Chrome Bumper Cars, as well as, MGC Roadster, 1967 – 1969] at the Southern California MG Club’s Boots and Bonnet Car Show of September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to Dan and Ann McLean for his British Racing Green 1967 MGB with trailer. This car has been driven all over Western United States.
CLASS D – THIRD PLACE WINNER – MGB Roadster (1962 -1974) [Mark I, Mark II, Mark III all Chrome Bumper Cars, as well as, MGC Roadster, 1967 – 1969] at the Southern California MG Club’s Boots and Bonnet Car Show of September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to John Loscano for his British Racing Green 1969 MGB.
CLASS E – FIRST PLACE WINNER – MGB GT (1965-1980 and MGC GT (1967-1969) at the Southern California MG Club’s Boots and Bonnet Car Show of September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to John Chisler for his Black Tulip 1973 MGB GT.
CLASS F – FIRST PLACE WINNER – MGB Roadster (1974 1/2 – 1980) [Mark III Rubber Bumper] at the Southern California MG Club’s September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to David Theil for his Arctic White MGB 1977. Dave wrote a note to the organizers of the Event thanking them for a well-organized fun event. David said that the car has come a long way since he trailered it home, after it sat outside neglected, many years ago. He has fixed has also fixed my heater cable with Adam Lombard’s help and says that he continues to learn things about these crazy automobiles that we have chosen to care so much about.
CLASS F – SECOND PLACE WINNER – MGB Roadster (1974 1/2 – 1980) [Mark III Rubber Bumper] at the Southern California MG Club’s September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to Zelda Carol Davis for her white 1974 1/2 MGB, The car has proven to be a reliable long distance traveler across the United States to the NAMGBR’s National events group drives to: Rohnert Park, California; Breckenreidge, Colorado; Bellville, Ontario, Canada; and solo drives to NAMGBR’s National events to: Dillard, Georgia; French Lick, Indiana and the side trips to Detroit, Michigan.
CLASS G – FIRST PLACE WINNER – MG Midget (1961-1974 Mark I, Mark 11 Mark III – Chrome Bumper and MG Midget [1974-1979 (1500 Rubber Bumper] at the Southern California MG Club’s September 13, 2015, trophy was presented to Jay Cohen’s Red 1974 MG Midget.
CLASS M – FIRST PLACE WINNER – MG Modified [All Years] at the Southern California MG Club’s September 13, 2015 trophy was presented to Thomas Aimodovar’s Red 1979 MGB All Electric. This is a very interesting daily driven car. Tom explained that he had to learn to be sure that when he is on city streets, stopped at a stop sign or signal that he accelerates the car in 2nd gear. If he starts in 1st gear the car moves too quickly to be safe on city streets. He says he is still working on long distance travel time.
